Jackson County & Woodruff County Senior Centers
Senior centers connect older adults to important community services that can help them stay healthy and independent.
These programs offer a place where participants can engage in community services that can help them stay healthy and independent by offering a wide variety of programs and services, including Meals and Nutrition Programs, Social & Recreational Activities, Wellness Programs, Transportation Services and Senior Center Volunteer Programs.
Meals and Nutrition Programs
Congregate noontime meals are served at the centers Monday through Friday at both Jackson and Woodruff. Breakfast is served Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Jackson County Senior Center.
Home Delivered Meals are taken to those unable to leave their homes due to illness, disability or frailty and meet the eligibility requirements.
Menus are approved by a registered dietitian and provide 1/3 of the U.S. Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) and comply with Arkansas’ Division of Aging & Adult Services standards.
Nutritional programs and information are available.
Social & Recreational Activities
Various activities are offered to promote social interaction.
• Weekly bingo
• Live Music
• Puzzles & Games
• Crafts Special events and entertainment are arranged.
Special trips are planned.
Wellness programs provide a variety of programs at little or no cost to enhance the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual health and well-being of seniors. (Not all programs are offered at every center, contact centers for their list.)
Programs and Activities may include:
• Move with Balance
• Tai Chi
• Exercise Classes
• Walking Clubs
• Bean Bag Baseball
• Diabetes and Chronic Disease Workshops
• New programs are continually being developed.
Transportation services are available through the senior centers. They provide transportation to and from the centers, local grocery stores, pharmacies, recreational outings and other places as scheduled.
Senior Center Volunteer Programs
Volunteers play a critical role within the nutrition and wellness programs. There are opportunities to volunteer in the following ways:
• During noon meal time
• Delivering Home Delivered Meals
• Socialization and Recreational activities
• Wellness Programs
• Fund raising events
• Special events
• Any ideas utilizing your skills All gifts of time are welcome as an individual, students, as well as corporate/group volunteers.

For your convenience, Unity Health - Harris Medical Center offers a centralized office for scheduling all outpatient procedures. To make, reschedule, or cancel an appointment, call (870) 512-3042.
Held every other Thursday. For an appointment, call (870) 932-6799. Request Newport Clinic when making appointment.
Unity Health's Healthworks Department offers a variety of health screenings including cholesterol, diabetes, prostate cancer, blood pressure and CBC. For more information on other screenings that may be provided, call (501) 278-8571.
